Review of grower representation in the Australian cotton industry

The Australian Cotton Growers Research Association (ACGRA) and Cotton Australia have initiated discussions to develop a review and proposal for reform of cotton grower representation in Australia. The current industry structure, developed almost 40 years ago, has supported the incredible outcome of a viable and sustainable cotton industry in Australia and a widely acknowledged industry ‘R&D’ culture. Both organisations now provide a solid platform for the next generation of the industry.

ACGRA and Cotton Australia acknowledge the need for an effective and efficient grower based representative structure, empowered to determine and drive the industry’s strategic direction, retaining our strong focus on R&D, promoting the value of the industry, reporting on the industry’s environmental credibility and implementing policy objectives in consultation with stakeholders. Our challenge at this time is to examine if this is now possible through one widely supported organisation.

On behalf of ACGRA and Cotton Australia we invite you to offer your feedback on the proposals that have arisen from this review of our grower representation structure outlined in this document either directly to ACGRA Executive or Cotton Australia Board members or through your respective member organisation.
